"Seagrapes" oil on canvas
Artist StatementJapanese sumi brush painting, American Abstract Expressionism and meditation practice inspire my work. Art is an act of creating and connecting. As an artist I thrive when open to my senses, respond to the character of the subject and relate to it in the moment and in its environment. The paint can be loose allowing its fluid nature to be revealed or detailed, magnifying the character of the subject. I let the idea choose the medium and be free to allow the art to emerge from it. Working plein aire allows me to respond to nature's innate structure or "bones" and use it to build the art. I think of art as life and a way to experience life more fully. Sharing art is the final act of art making. It connects viewer, artist, and object–there is no separation. No viewer–no art. Website: [email protected] Email BethSchroederArt@gmail.com |
